Pursue a New Career Path with a Master’s Degree from HSE
Upon graduating from university, it is not uncommon to find that your professional interests no longer align with your undergraduate area of study. Pursuing an advanced degree that allows you to pursue your real interests is a solution to this problem. At HSE University, we understand this. That is why many HSE Master’s programmes do not require applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree in the programme field.
41 English-taught Master’s programmes
are offered by HSE University’s four campuses in 2020
Making Your Case to a Master’s Programme
Here are some tips for demonstrating in your application why you are ready to change your field and what sets you apart from other applicants:
Write about your job experience, especially if it is somehow related to the Master’s programme to which you are applying. Think about your responsibilities and the tasks you accomplished and how they relate to the programme’s field;
Do some research and describe the areas you would like to study and why. Be as precise as you can – your goal is to show that you understand what this programme is about and that you know what you want to achieve;
Prepare your CV in English (you may use the Europass standard sample for many of HSE’s programmes). This will not only showcase your academic and professional experience and proficiency in English, but also your accuracy and attention to detail;
Write about what motivates you and what personal qualities or experience you bring to the table. Demonstrate your seriousness about pursuing an advance degree in the field.
Applying to HSE University is free, simple, and transparent. All portfolio evaluation criteria are available on the university website for international applicants.
Please note that each Russian-taught or English-taught programme has their own list of required documents that are necessary for your portfolio evaluation. Applicants are also free to attach additional pertinent documents that they feel may increase their final evaluation score.
Overall, what is most important is that the programme’s commission is able to see from your documents that you are both motivated and competent. In addition, you will need to show that you possess scholarly or practical potential in the area of your future Master’s degree specialization.
How to Choose the Programme That’s Right for You
In order to choose the Master’s programme that is right for you, you may want to take a short test and figure out which study programmes suit your skills and preferences.
Moreover, in 2020, all international applicants can get a sense of the approximate score their portfolio will receive thanks to the preliminary online interview and assessment.
