Registration is now open for the autumn 2023 international Study Tour Experience at HSE University. Applicants from outside Russia who are interested in applying to master’s programmes can spend two weeks as a student of HSE University’s campuses in Moscow, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, and St Petersburg.

The Master’s in Financial Economics at the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) provides students with a solid theoretical foundation in economics and finance while teaching hands-on skills under the guidance of experts from academia and industry. With the 2022/23 academic year now over, faculty reflect on the programme’s successes and future prospects.

The Bachelor’s in Information Science and Computation Technology (ISCT) at HSE MIEM trains experts in the study and design of advanced computing devices, systems, and networks. Graduates of the programme are sought-after specialists in the fields of software development, computer production and sales, computing department management and more. The programme attracts students from across Russia and further afield. The HSE News Service spoke to Artyom Katsnelson and Karen Kochinyan, two international students of the programme, about their studies, the pros and cons of online learning, and their advice for prospective students.

HSE University’s Online Campus is accepting applications for ‘Master of Finance’, an online programme taught in English at the HSE Banking Institute. The design of the online programme meets the needs not only of current students, but also of working professionals who want to expand their knowledge of financial strategies and learn how to increase their investments and diversify risks.

Nargiz Mammadova, from Azerbaijan, is a 2022 graduate of the Economics: Research Programme and a finalist of the Global Essay Competition in St. Gallen. As she prepares to start her Master of Public Administration in International Development programme at Harvard in August 2023, Nargiz reflects on her time studying at HSE University during the COVID-19 pandemic, talks about her work for the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan, and shares an important message for future students.

The English-taught master's programme in Comparative Social Research studies sociology from a global perspective and is intended for those who are interested in understanding how people's actions affect society and what influences the decisions and self-identification of individuals and groups in different cultures, regions and circumstances. Students participate in interregional and cross-country quantitative and qualitative research, working on their own projects. The programme’s academic supervisor Ekaterina Mitrofanova told HSE News Service about the course’s features and admission process.

Wenrui Zhang, from China, is a recent graduate of theMaster’s in Economics and Economic Policy at the HSE UniversityFaculty of Economic Sciences. Having successfully defended his master’s thesis on the impact of COVID-19 on the incomes of vulnerable groups, Wenrui has set his sights on publishing his research and enrolling in adoctoral programme at the university. The HSE News Service interviewed Wenrui about his achievements so far and his goals for the future, and also spoke to Prof.Elena Kotyrlo, his academic supervisor.

Kristina Rizvanova from Astana, Kazakhstan, is currently in her second and final year of the master's programme in Marketing Management—the first online master’s programme in this field at HSE University. Kristina spoke to the HSE News Service about preparing for the entrance exams, the wonders of online learning, and the importance of broadening one’s personal and professional horizons.
