HSE and Dynamo to Support Student Sports Initiatives
The Higher School of Economics and the Russian hockey team Dynamo Moscow have agreed to combine forces to help students lead a healthy lifestyle and develop student sports initiatives.
Dynamo Moscow is one of Russia’s oldest hockey clubs and the only team to take part in all top-class championships. The white and blue 11-member team once became national champions and has won a record 48 medals. In addition, Dynamo has won the Soviet Cup, the Junior Hockey League, the Gagarin Cup, the European Champions Cup, as well as countless other international tournaments.
Since the club was founded, Dynamo has been supporting youth sports initiatives. It is this specific area that became the foundation for the partnership between HSE and Dynamo.
The Higher School of Economics has always paid a lot of attention to the sporting interests of its students. The university currently has around 30 sports teams and over 10 student sports organizations. HSE’s different sports teams have fared very well, and not only at the interuniversity level. The university also has its own hockey team called the Black Crows, which takes part in matches of the Moscow Student Hockey League.
HSE and Dynamo are planning to set up a joint organization for sporting celebrations and events aimed at boosting student’s interest in sports. Dynamo is prepared to encourage students who are indifferent towards sports by offering them free tickets to home games. In the future, Dynamo and HSE are planning to organize friendly matches with Dynamo fans, as well as meetings with the famous athletes and a visit to the club’s training site.
‘Our similarities with HSE concern more than just the fact that blue and white are our favourite colours. We are also joined by our aim to improve and be the best in all areas,’ Dynamo said.
