Graduate of HSE Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics Invents Way of Charging Devices in Buses and Metro
The Public Charger project developed by HSE MIEM graduate Alexei Rolich has been selected as one of the winners in the Start programme developed by the Foundation for the Support of Small Businesses in Science and Technology. The programme focuses on researchers who want to turn their ideas into a sustainable business. Rolich will receive a 2 million rouble grant for the first stage of development of his project.

HSE Graduate Wins World Championship in Creating Financial and Mathematical Models
Polina Polunina, a 2012 graduate of HSE’s undergraduate programme in Mathematics, took second place at the Summer Alphathon — a global competition in which students and recent graduates from leading universities create financial and mathematical models. The competition was held with the support of WorldQuant, an investment company.
HSE Students Win Science Communications Case Competition
Students on the Integrated Communications Master’s programme won first place at the Case Lab: practical solutions for science communication problems contest. HSE Students at the International Mathematics Competition
The Prestigious International Mathematics Competition for University Students took place in Bulgaria this year between 27 July and 2nd August. Competitors were given 10 problems to solve for a maximum of 10 points. HSE’s Faculty of Computer Science was represented by Vadim Kalashnikov and Gleb Posobin who are about to embark on the second year of their degree course. According to overall international ratings for students in any subject they were awarded first and third prizes respectively.
