Tianxiong Yu, 25, completed his Master’s in Economics and Economic Policy at HSE University in Moscow. He spent the second year of the programme at the University of Luxembourg and has since enrolled there on a doctoral programme. While it is no longer a joint programme, HSE graduates continue to successfully pursue PhDs at international universities. Tianxiong spoke to the HSE News Service about his memories of his master’s course and how his time at HSE paved the way for his doctoral research.

Victory in Life and in Games: GameDevFest Held at HSE
The second GameDevFest, a festival for computer game developers organised by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), took place at the Pokrovka campus. On February 1, 2025, the HSE Cultural Centre hosted its annual celebration of the Lunar New Year. HSE Researchers Prove the Existence of Nash Equilibrium for a New Class of Problems in Game Theory
Researchers at HSE University's St Petersburg School of Economics and Management have been exploring methods for the efficient allocation of resources in systems involving multiple players. The scientists have proven the existence of strategies for optimal decision-making in competition for limited, discrete resources in four different cases. The developed mathematical model can be applied in various fields, ranging from education and medicine to managing networks and computing power. The paper has been published in Games and Economic Behaviour.

HSE and Russian Institute of Theatre Arts Launch Double-Degree Master’s Programme in Theatre Producing
In August 2024, HSE University and the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) signed a cooperation agreement, which marked the start of the double-degree Master’s programme ‘Theatre and Performing Arts Producer.’ The programme was developed jointly by the HSE Faculty of Creative Industries and the Stage Arts Producing and Management Department at GITIS.

At the end of January, Jakarta (Indonesia) hosted the IIETE 2025 international education and training exhibition. HSE University-St Petersburg and three other Russian universities represented the higher education system in Russia. Over several days, the exhibition welcomed more than 50,000 people.
