The timeliness of Russia’s first cyber gaming platform, the importance of closing the gender gap in the IT industry, and the future of international cooperation in the Arctic were just some of the issues discussed at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Sessions attended by HSE University experts at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum focused on the digitalisation of migration management, regionalisation of the world economy, participation of companies in global value chains, and many other topics. Nizhny Novgorod has hosted the Investment Leaders Forum organised by the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation jointly with executive authorities under the patronage of Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin. The participants discussed the region's investment potential and highlighted the best practices in investment attraction and the support and implementation of investment projects. The forum was partnered with HSE University.

People who are fluent in two or more languages are less susceptible to age-related mental disorders. They more quickly process information and make decisions, have better memories, and can even better identify emotions. Scientists from various countries discussed the influence of a second language on the processes of cognitive aging at the international symposium ‘Bilingualism: Proper Learning, Effective Communication, and Pleasant Old Age’ hosted by HSE University.

The traditional EconomFest gathered students, staff, applicants, and friends of the Faculty of Economic Sciences in the HSE University building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The event programme featured tours, contests, and treats alongside anti-lectures, networking, and congratulations from the faculty’s administration. The students shared extracurricular life tips with school children, and alumni looked for new colleagues among senior students.

A series of plenary sessions, master classes, and seminars is underway in the Kazakh capital as part of the HSE Days event at the Miras international school and Astana International University. Guests of the interactive research and educational intensive will learn about the latest achievements in humanitarian science, management, and processes for building sustainable communication with partners from Eurasian countries.

In late April, the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science organised its first data science meetup in the capital of Armenia together with the Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The event featured speakers from HSE University, Yandex, and SberDevices. The meeting featured the participation of students from Yerevan universities who have recently become acquainted with data science, as well as specialists in the field.

On May 21, HSE University’s International Laboratory for Social Integration Research, together with the GES-2 House of Culture, will organise the first International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘What Does It Mean to Be Deaf? New Challenges for the Community’. The forum dedicated to the social, cultural and linguistic foundations of the deaf community’s functioning in the country and the world is planned in offline and online formats.
