HSE’s Digital Transformation Achievements Presented at Yandex Conference
On September 23– 25, Yandex held the Yandex Scale 2020 conference on new digital products and services. The conference included practical sessions on machine learning, data processing, analysis and other topics, as well as cases of the company’s customers and partners. One such case, concerning the evolution of a digital university, was presented by Alexey Chukarin, HSE University’s Senior Director for Digital Transformation.

New Online School on Population Genetics and Analysis
The HSE International Laboratory of Statistical and Computational Genomics has launched an online school for applied population genetics and analysis. The school does not require special knowledge in biology and is aimed at students, graduate students, and postdocs in mathematics, physics, and computer programming.

Despite Challenges, Fair Proportion of Students Have Come to Prefer Online Education
While many students readily embraced online learning, there were also many students who found it more difficult to complete their coursework due to technical difficulties. First-year students had the hardest time adapting to the new format, and low-income students also encountered many challenges. HSE University Launches Project on Automated Exam Checking
During this summer’s exams, HSE School of Foreign Languages and the Centre for Computational Educational Sciences launched a pilot project for the automated checking of student exams.
