On 4th - 7th November the annual conference of the Association for the Study of Higher Education, ASHE took place in Denver, Colorado. Incorporated in 1976 ASHE is the oldest professional association in higher education studies and has more than 2,000 members, mostly Americans.
HSE Gathers the 'Whole World at One HSE' on National Unity Day
On November 4, the Higher School of Economics organised a celebration open to all Muscovites – the ‘Whole World at One HSE.’ Guests were able to visit open lectures by HSE professors, attend career aptitude testing, watch sci-fi movies, and buy homemade crafts and baked goods at a charity fair. How Are Human Sciences and Sociology and the Humanities Related? The Debate Continues
The Poletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities (IGITI) held an international conference on 29-30 October 2015 on ‘Biological Concepts, Models, and Metaphors in Social and Human Sciences’. For two days, Russian, European and American researchers discussed the relations between social sciences and the humanities and various life sciences. This topic arises largely in the light of the recent boom in genetics, medicine and biology which have led academics to reconsider previous concepts of boundaries and connections between disciplines.
‘Poetry Keeps Coming Back to the Question of Life and Death’
The HSE School of Philology is organising a new university project, Poet in Residence. The first poet to take up the post is Alexander Kushner. In October he came to talk to students about what poetry is concerned with and promised students he would comment on their verses in the future.

Further, universities can become new points of growth for such a polycentric metropolis, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov said at the 2015 Moscow Urban Forum.
