New Recording Studio Opens at HSE University

The Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) opened a studio for recording online courses and webinars.

The digitalization of education would be impossible without the introduction of new technologies. FBM’s modern video studio—based on Jalinga software that Russian specialists created for distance learning—enables teachers and students to record lectures and transmit online broadcasts unassisted.

An important advantage of the new studio is how easy it is to use. No lengthy preparation is required and the videos recorded there need no post-production. What’s more, the person recording the video can simultaneously incorporate Internet sources, interactive elements, animated 2D and 3D objects such as maps, mathematical formulae, etc. and display content on a transparent board.

Modern education requires innovative approaches and the use of digital tools. The studio opens up opportunities for bringing HSE’s business education and continuing professional development programmes to a new technological level.

The studio is available for use by FBM teachers and students, as well as lecturers from the Continuing Professional Development department. FBM staff will soon hold training sessions on the use of the studio's tools and provide recommendations on content.

‘The ability to create video lectures simply and quickly is just what our department needs because we work with distance programs exclusively,’ noted Evgenia Kacharskaya, manager at the HSE Higher School of Marketing and Business Development.

Alexander Kolesnikov, who teaches the Product Development programme, will record a lecture in the studio and be among the first to assess its strengths.

‘This studio is one of the components of the Media Complex project that we plan to fully implement at our faculty by the end of 2020,’ said project director Kirill Stetsenko. ‘Education is going online and remote interactions are becoming an integral part of any course. Many foreign business schools are switching their programmes—even MBAs—to distance learning formats. An increasing number of students are becoming involved in online education,’ he said.
